Cop arrested for body-slamming unarmed woman.

Incredible, but true
Federal prosecutors said Yonkers officer Wayne Simoes used excessive force when he grabbed the woman by the waist, hoisted her in the air and slammed her, face first, into a tile floor.
Fellow officers didn't bat an eye when he did this, but now he is going to be charged with a federal civil rights violation.
The officer performed his act allegedly to stop her from interfering with a medical emergency involving a family member.
Marquez was arrested and charged with obstruction of governmental administration, and an internal inquiry cleared Simoes of any wrongdoing. After the Justice Department informed the city that it was investigating, Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone held a news conference to praise the department, saying its officers "do their jobs the right way in full accordance with the law."
A Westchester County jury, however, acquitted Marquez of the obstruction charge. Weeks later she sued the police department for $11.3 million.
The body-slam broke her jaw and put her in the hospital for four days and now, officially, many months later, the policeman is found to have been wrong and has now encountered consequences.
Security camera video shows
Marquez bending over her prone niece while the EMTs examine her. One officer takes her by the arm and gently pushes her away. She bumps into a second officer as she backs up.
Simoes then approaches the woman, shoves her shoulder, and, after she apparently objects to being touched, suddenly grabs her from behind and throws her to the floor.
Three officers standing nearby neither flinch nor move to intervene.
Despite the nature of Marquez's injuries, which included a broken jaw and nightmarish bruises over her entire face, law enforcement authorities initially sided with the officer.
He has retained an attorney, of course, and id planning to plead not guilty of course. His lawyer intends to explain why the available security video is misleading.
The feds brought up the civil rights charges: homeboy is in real trouble, apparently facing real jail time.
I'd have any officer that reacts with such violence in such non-violent situations tested for drugs and steroids every incident.
It is simply not acceptable to injure so many innocent people.
ESPECIALLY in the name of "safety and saving lives".
