Bush pats good Dems on the head for telecom immunity.

Thank ya... Thank ya furry musch
The Senate gave President Bush what he wanted Wednesday, sending him a bill expanding his surveillance authority and granting legal amnesty to telecommunications companies that facilitated his warrantless surveillance program.
You're such good dogs.
Yes you are!
"This bill will help our intelligence professionals learn who the terrorists are talking to, what they're saying, and what they're planning," he went on. "It will ensure that those companies whose assistance is necessary to protect the country will, themselves, be protected from lawsuits for past or future cooperation with the government."
It is a quick measure of judgment and intelligence as to whether one actually believes this sort of crap or not.
If one really believes it is honest - which I am certain a number of otherwise apparently intelligent sorts do - then ones lightbulb would be rated around 10 to 20 watts. An appliance bulb. Smart people with good judgment know this is museum-quality bullshit - they are rated at 90 watts or better. One need not be the best and brightest to grasp the profound lying in this statement.
Its the same line people have been fed since Nixon started the war on "drugs": Law Enforcement has constantly clamored for more and more and more unconstitutional powers with the same old tired "the bad guys are getting away because we have to adhere to the Constitution" bullshit. It increases budgets and it chips away at the Constitution "for our safety".
Now they are making real inroads in damaging Constitutional protections with the same exact line, unchanged by our "modern times". We have to abrogate the Constitution in order to keep you safe and you must believe this.
It seems to NEVER fail.
