(Most Recent) Deadly Taser Cop "may be" charged with homicide.

It's not definite.

You know the effort that goes in to letting cops who have committed brutality and other crimes off the hook.

The coroner's report that has come back says the man may have been dead after the 7th of 9 50000-volt-jolts fired by the officer.

A police officer shocked a handcuffed Baron "Scooter" Pikes nine times with a Taser after arresting him on a cocaine charge.

He stopped twitching after seven, according to a coroner's report. Soon afterward, Pikes was dead.

The "War on Drugs" and its PROFOUNDLY racist underpinnings encourages police officers to be brutal with non-white people caught with "druuuuuuugs".

"It's taken several months for this case to even be properly addressed, so one has to wonder, why did it take so long?" said Carol Powell Lexing, a lawyer for the Pikes family. "Obviously, a wrongful death occurred."

Well a cop is involved and a cop's activity can cause the city or county to fall victim to lawsuits so everything under the sun is USUALLY done to let cops skate, no matter how egregious the situation. This cop getting charged at all is sort of rare.

They will do everything to blame the victim but the corenor's report is damning. The coroner

who ruled Pikes' death a homicide in June after extensive study, said Nugent fired his Taser at Pikes six times in less than three minutes -- shots recorded by a computer chip in the weapon's handle. Then officers put Pikes in the back of a cruiser and drove him to their police station -- where Nugent fired a seventh shot, directly against Pikes' chest.

"After he was given that drive stun to the chest, he was pulled out of the car onto the concrete, " Williams told CNN. "He was electroshocked two more times, which two officers noted that he had no neuromuscular response to those last two 50,000-volt electroshocks."

They killed this man straight up.

Taser is grossly irresponsible for manufacturing a lethal product marketed as "non-lethal". If it kills 0.01% of the people it shoots, it's pretty friggin lethal, EVEN if you have a shitload of high-paid lawyers that get your ass off the legal hook each and every time.

Well.... except this past June...Taser Loses 1st Product-Liability Suit; Jury Awards $6 Million

Taser International Inc., the largest stun-gun maker, lost a $6.2 million jury verdict over the death of a California man who died after police shot him multiple times with the weapon. The defeat is the first for Taser in a product- liability claim.

A San Jose, California, jury yesterday said Taser had failed to warn police in Salinas, California, that prolonged exposure to electric shock from the device could cause a risk of cardiac arrest. The jury awarded $1 million in compensatory damages and $5.2 million in punitive damages to the estate of Robert Heston, 40, and his parents. The jury cleared the police officers of any liability.

This particular cop skated because the Taser company was found liable for not providing accurate information to the police that the Taser can be harmful.

But that was a 2005 incident and the ruling was in June. Mr. Pikes was killed in June and I have hope the cop WILL be charged with murder, and possibly we can see the Taser relabeled as not-necessarily non-lethal.

Video report on how the lawsuit ruling is impacting Canada, where they are aware Tasers are lethal.
